Institute of Diplomacy is an elite educational and structural unit of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan that provides training in International Relations. The Academy upgrades the skills of acting diplomatic personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan (MFA RK).

Famous professors, Kazakhstani and foreign Ambassadors provide relevant knowledge about the art of diplomacy. Institute of Diplomacy is open to everyone who wants to get an education subject to their passing of entrance examinations.  

A launching pad for Kazakhstani diplomats  

Institute of Diplomacy delivers the following academic programs:      

  • Master program in International relations – 1 or 2-year study 
  • Master program in Translation major – 2-year study 
  • Short-term skills-upgrading courses for structural units of the MFA– 3-week courses 

Study process is based on a credit system  

Departments of foreign policy and diplomacy, state and foreign languages ensure full academic process consistent with the programs approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan.  

Institute graduates are incorporated into the personnel reserve of the MFA of RK.  

One more step up a career ladder and to success  

Institute of Diplomacy: 

  • Founded in 2005 on the basis of Diplomatic Academy under MFA RK
  • Prepares professional diplomats with awarding of the Master degree in “International relations”
  • Implements retraining and skills-upgrading courses for middle and top-tier diplomats
  • Master program duration is from 1 to 2 years
  • Core contingent of the Institute fellows is represented by acting officials of the MFA except those studying on commercial basis
  • Regular faculty members of the Institute carry diplomatic ranks of Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Counselor-Ministers
  • Classes are held by senior officials of MFA, MPs of Kazakhstan and Ambassadors of foreign countries 
  • Institute fellows undergo international trainings at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (Austria)
